  • At the Bank of Houston, new accounts are verified with TeleCheck, with branches downtown and near the Astrodome.
  • First Convenience Banks also does not use ChexSystems and has locations in the majority of the Albertsons and Wal-Marts.
  • Austin Telco Federal Credit Union will not use ChexSystems to verify their new accounts.
  • Chase Bank of Texas has various locations around the state, and several of these locations will use TeleCheck, not ChexSystems. However, the ones that use ChexSystems may overlook a negative incident in the report so long as proof can be shown that it was taken care of.
  • Some BankUnited locations will go ahead and open accounts for people who have a negative incident in their ChexSystems record so long as it’s six months old or older and it’s been paid. It’s not clear if this be under a regular checking account or under the “Second Chance Checking” program.
  • Compass Bank will use TeleCheck to verify all new accounts.
  • Another credit union that uses TeleCheck over ChexSystems to verify all new accounts is the Credit Union of Texas.
  • TexasBank has several branch locations in Johnson, Denton and Tarrant counties, and these branches will use ChexSystems to verify their new accounts. However, they will also overlook the negative incidents in most of these cases.
  • MetroBank, with several locations around Houston and Dallas, utilizes TeleCheck, not ChexSystems to verify their accounts.
  • Frost Bank has various locations around the state and is willing to open accounts for folks who have a negative incident in their ChexSystems report but only if there is a letter from the reporting institution saying that no money is owed to that organization. Account holders will even get privileges for Visa Checkcard.
  • The Armed Forces Bank, which has both military and civilian customers, seems willing to handle people who have a negative incident on their ChexSystems record. Locations for this bank are found at Fort Bliss as well as out of state.
  • Fort Sill National Bank, with branch locations on Sheppard Air Force Base, may or may not use ChexSystems to verify and open new accounts. If they do use ChexSystems, they may be willing to overlook the negative incidents that have been filed.
  • With the Navy Federal Credit Union, people who work in or have worked in the Navy, U.S. Coast Guard or Marine Corps (as well as their families) are eligible for an account with the bank. Branches can be found in the Corpus Christi and Ft. Worth areas.
